Eddie Aikau 2009 Surf Competition Official ReviewThe Eddie Aikau 2009 Surf competition was held yesterday at Waimea Bay on the North Shore. The Eddie was, in our never-so-humble opinion, one of the Top 10 days in Hawaii’s history. It had all the elements of legend. Their were a record shattering number of spectators, a perfect 10 weather-wise, amazingly clean waves, and some of the best looking people in the world cruising the beach.
The 2009 Eddie Aikau champion was Greg Long — set off by his PERFECT 100 point ride in the middle of the day. This was only the second time in the history of the Eddie Aikau that someone scored a perfect 100. That helped him take over crowd favorite Kelly Slater, and secure his win.

But whatever.. no one really cared who won. It was all about the Aloha, the Surf, and the Hotties. What a day, … in memory of Eddie Aikau.
