Eddie Aikau 2009 Surf Contest CoverageThe “Eddie” as locals call the Eddie Aikau Surf Competition is the Super Bowl of surfing. If the Super Bowl only happpened once every 4 or 5 years like the Eddie Aikau. Well 2009 looks like a good year for surf fans. The swell rolling in for the Eddie is being called “The Biggest in a Generation”, since the legendary surf of ‘69.

For the Eddie Aikau to go off, the surf has to meet several conditions.
- The waves have to be HUGE, LETHAL, SOB’s 30 ft+
- The waves have to be considered clean and ridable
